Netplay Pack Customizable Game Settings

The netplay pack contains gameshark cheats that alter how the game plays, and these can settings can be changed in game to your liking. Just press the given button combo in the chart to the right while on the character select. You'll hear Calumon speak his lines again as confirmation. These settings have no affect in 1 Player / Arcade mode.

Hazards

Disabled (Default)

This setting disables stage hazards, so your fighting doesn't have to be interrupted. This setting is on by default, and used in tournaments.

Recycling

  • The claw that grabs and drops off boxes has been frozen in place, preventing boxes from spawning, and the stage from opening up.
  • The moving platforms have been made stationary, for consistency in respawn combos.
  • Teleporter has been permanently turned off.

Wilderness

  • Boulders, big and small, no longer spawn.

Revolution

  • The stage no longer rotates at random intervals.

Sanctuary

  • The "storm" hazard no longer occurs.
  • The lighting boxes still move around the stage as normal, however.
  • At the start of every round, there is a 10% chance that the sky will be dark.

Glacier

  • The side platforms that break off have been made invincible, so they do not break off.
  • The falling icicles no longer spawn.
  • Falling speed has been greatly increased after hitting the icy water.

Volcano

  • Lava no longer erupts from the lower parts of the stage.
  • The "drowning" in lava effect has been removed, greatly reducing damage taken for falling off stage.
  • Sadly, texture animations in the stage's background has been disabled.

Disabled (Legacy)

An older version of the no hazards codes, and was used in tournament play for around a year.

Recycling

  • The claw that grabs and drops off boxes has been frozen in place, preventing boxes from spawning, and the stage from opening up.
  • The moving platforms have been made stationary.
  • The ceiling and the wall near the teleporter have been removed, making it possible to leave the bounds of the stage.
  • Texture animations have been disabled.

Wilderness

  • Boulders, big and small, no longer spawn.
  • Texture animations have been disabled.

Revolution

  • The stage no longer rotates at random intervals.

Sanctuary

  • The "storm" hazard no longer occurs.
  • The lighting boxes still move around the stage as normal, however.

Glacier

  • The side platforms no longer break off.
  • The falling icicles no longer spawn.
  • The moving platforms no longer move.
  • The "ice fall" effect when you hit the water has been removed.
  • Texture animations have been disabled.

Volcano

  • Lava no longer erupts from the lower parts of the stage.
  • The "drowning" in lava effect has been removed, greatly reducing damage taken for falling off stage.
  • Sadly, texture animations in the stage's background has been disabled.

Enabled

Stages are exactly the same as they always were.

Items

Disabled (Default)

Items will not spawn.

Enabled

Items will appear as normal.

Item "less"

Only one item can spawn on stage at once, decreased from 3.

Physics

These settings modify each stages friction and acceleration values to adjust how "slippery" the floor is.

No Slip & Slide (Default)

Glacier and Reapermon's Den have been adjusted to match the friction and acceleration values of Wilderness. This basically "turns off the ice physics".

Original

Each stage retains its original physics properties.

Oops, All Ice!

Every stage has been adjusted to match the friction and acceleration values of Glacier. This basically "turns on the ice physics" for all stages.

Ice Skates

This mode combines the high acceleration of most stages, with the low friction of Glaicer to make for fast movement but slow stops. Applies to all stages.

Rounds

This modifies the number of rounds a player needs to win to be declared the winner, see the results screen, and return to the character select screen. "FT" stands for "first to", so "FT2" stands for "First To 2 round wins". FT2 is the default, matching the original game, but you can choose from 2 rounds wins up to 5 round wins. When playing FT3 rounds or higher, the number of rounds each player has won is displayed in the player's score.

Normally, the game has a hard limit of no more than 5 rounds occurring in one game. Presumably, this limit exists to silently end the game when players put down their controllers and walk away without pausing (assuming they didn't disable the time limit), but also serves to force the game to end if players somehow manage to tie multiple rounds in a single game. This limit has been entirely removed from the netplay pack, and can't be re-enabled.

Timer

In addition to the default "99" second time limit, and no time limit options of the original game, the netplay pack adds two more time limit options: 30 seconds ("29"), and 120 seconds. The game clock can't display a time greater than 99, so when using 120 seconds, the timer will read "99" for the first 20 seconds of each round, then will count down as normal.

Soundtrack

2P VS

The in game music will be the normal multiplayer music, and the song is chosen by the game based on character matchup.

1P Arcade

The in game music will be the music from arcade mode, and the song is choosen by the game based on the stage being played. "Reapermon's Theme" does not play not play, unless you select Reapermon's Den. Reapermon's Den does not have its own theme, so it instead uses the usual multiplayer music.

Semi-Random

Both 2P and 1P music soundtracks are picked at random at the start of every game. For each soundtrack, the song is chosen as it usually would.

Random Character

On the character select screen, you can press Start to get a random character.

Random Stage

On the stage select screen, you can press Start to get a random stage.

Alternate Skin

At the map selection screen, press select to get your Digimon's alternate colors. You'll hear a sound effect and see your tamer brighten up. You can return to normal colors by pressing select again.

Play Mirror Matches

To pick the same character as your opponent after they have already selected their character, just hold Select, the choose the same character.

This isn't a game modification for the netplay pack either, this is a part of the game itself. Heaven forbid this be listed in the game manual.

Alternate Tamer

Some, but not all, characters have alternate tamers that can be selected by holding L1 or R1 while selecting your Digimon. You can see your alternate tamer on the stage select, and in game when you digivolve. Using alternate tamers can cause the game to select different songs when using 2P VS music.

This isn't a game modification for the netplay pack either, this is a part of the game itself. Heaven forbid this be listed in the game manual. (Admittedly, you need to beat arcade mode at least once first, or else it does not work.)
